MailMop cannot read your emails. Not “doesn’t” — cannot. The permission we request returns headers only, so message bodies and attachments are unreachable by design.
We request Google’s gmail.metadata permission. It returns sender, recipients, CC, subject and date. That includes subject lines, which are headers, never the message itself. The Gmail API refuses to return message bodies or attachments to us at all.
Extracted contacts stay in your own browser. Export saves an Excel file to your device; it isn’t sent anywhere.
We don’t sell contact data, share it between users, or use it for advertising. One click wipes everything MailMop has stored.
Open it. The first sheet is the guide. People tells you who is worth keeping. Import is the only sheet to load into Google Contacts or a CRM. Do not import People. In HubSpot, match E-mail 1 - Value to Email, and Organization Name to Company.
The permission MailMop needs is one Google classes as restricted, and apps using it go through a review process before they can be offered publicly. Until that completes we can only admit a limited number of people, each added by hand. It also suits us: we would rather run a small, honest beta than a big launch, because we want to know whether the extracted lists are genuinely useful before asking anyone to pay for them.
The beta plan above is what applies today. Longer term there will be a free tier that is genuinely usable, and paid tiers for larger inboxes and CRM integrations.
Gmail and Google Workspace, in any modern browser. Outlook isn’t supported and isn’t in the current plan — we would rather do one thing properly first.
CC, definitely. BCC is genuinely uncertain — Google’s documentation doesn’t confirm whether a BCC header survives on stored sent messages, so we’re testing it before we claim it. We’d rather under-promise here.
Scan speed depends on mailbox size and Google’s rate limits. Contacts appear as headers are read. Pause any time. Progress is saved in this browser and Resume picks up where it stopped. We’ll publish typical timings once we’ve filmed real scans.
No. MailMop is not a mail-merge or campaign tool. It builds a contact list from your Gmail CC headers and stops at an Excel file.
MailMop gives you the list; what you do with it is your responsibility, and UK GDPR and PECR apply to you as they would to any other list. MailMop doesn’t send email on your behalf.
One control in the app — “Disconnect & delete local data” — clears everything MailMop has stored in your browser. You can also revoke MailMop’s access from your Google account settings at any time, independently of us.
