How to use MailMop
Headers only. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing leaves your machine unless you press Export.
-
Connect Gmail
Connect your account at app.mailmop.ing. The permission MailMop asks Google for is
gmail.metadata— header fields only. Reading the body of a message is not possible at the API level, not merely disallowed by policy. -
Scan
Contacts appear as headers are read, so the list fills while the scan is still running. How long it takes depends on the size of your mailbox and on Google’s rate limits, so MailMop shows what it has counted rather than a progress percentage or an estimate.
-
Your list
One row per address, with the people you write with most at the top. Role and machine addresses are flagged where MailMop can tell. The on-screen table shows the top 500 — the full list is in the Excel file.
-
Export Excel
Export writes one Excel file,
MailMop-contacts.xlsx, with three sheets, in this order:- Guide — what the file is and how to use it. The file opens here.
- People — the list, with the people you write with most at the top. What to do tells you who is worth keeping.
- Import — the only sheet to load into Google Contacts or a CRM: First Name, Last Name, E-mail 1 - Value, Organization Name.
If a CRM asks for a CSV, open Import and download that sheet as a CSV. Do not download People.
-
Wipe
Disconnect & delete local data in the app clears the browser storage MailMop built your list in. To withdraw the Gmail permission itself as well, remove MailMop under third-party access in your Google Account settings.
